The Geopolitical Studies Department of the African Studies Center of Tarbiat Modares University is a specialized center in the field of political geography and geopolitics in the African continent. This scientific and research group, using prominent professors and experts, conducts research in the fields of geoculture, geoeconomics, geostrategic, hydropolitics, political space planning, border studies, etc. in African countries. Currently, the Geopolitical Studies Department, with two full-time faculty members and five associate faculty members, has published works such as the book "Africa (4): Africa's in the strategy of regional and international actors", the book "Africa (5): Peace and Security in Africa" (volume 1); Generalities and approaches", the book "Africa (6): peace and security in Africa (volume 2) and the book "Horn of Africa; From ethnic groups and tribes to local state" and has projects with various organizations in progress.

Political Studies

The Department of Political Studies at the Centre for African Studies at Tarbiat Modares University is a leading center for African studies in Iran, with a focus on political science. The group conducts research and holds scientific review meetings related to Iran's national interests in the African continent. The department consists of one associate professor, three assistant professors, and three visiting researchers, each specializing in different aspects of Iran's interests in Africa. The department has identified several strategic plans, including a focus on methodological issues, interdisciplinary studies, research cooperation with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, increased international interactions, and updating political studies programs in the African region. In addition, the department aims to admit students from Africa, including international students. It is important to note that these plans are presented objectively and without bias.

The Cultural Studies Department of the African Studies Center at Tarbiat Modares University is one of the important research centers in the field of cultural and civilizational studies of the African continent in Iran. The research activities of this group are in the form of research projects and holding conferences and review meetings on the cultural issues of the African continent and Iran's cultural relations with African countries. This group, with the presence of one professor, two associate professors, three assistant professors, and two researchers with expertise in different cultural fields, is currently pursuing its activities. Among the activities of the group in 1402; Compiling the book Africa 7 with the approach of cultural issues, holding the second international conference of cultural dialogues between Iran and South Africa, holding a series of Africa Roadmap meetings in cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Culture and Communications.

The Department of Economic Studies at the Centre for African Studies at Tarbiat Modares University is one of the most important centers for recognizing and examining economic advantages and opportunities in the African continent. Among the goals of this Department is to examine the field of joint investment in Iran and Africa, to examine the advantages and interaction of Iran's economy with the economy of African countries, to explain and create a model for the entry of the private sector of Iran into African markets, Pathology of financing different investment sectors of Iran's economic projects in the African continent, and knowing more economic opportunities in the African continent for all sectors of the Iranian economy. Now, these goals are being pursued in the form of 4 axes, the position of the African Studies Center and branding, research targeting in the Department of economic studies of the African Studies Center, internationalization and the connection of the African Studies Center with society and especially the industry in the Department of Economic Studies. Although this Department does not currently have an official faculty member, it has tried to benefit from the experiences of university faculty members and other research centers as guest faculty members.
